SABAM

The Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers, short SABAM (French - Dutch acronym for Société d' Auteurs Belge -. Belgian Auteurs Maatschappij ) is a 1922 originally founded by authors Belgian association for the protection of those rights. The organization is based in Brussels.

Later, artists from other categories of SABAM joined with the same goal, for example, composer, lyricist, script writers, photographers, directors, actors and editors.

A test of investigative and satirical Flemish television magazine Basta showed that the Society for absolutely all reported title collects fees, regardless of whether they have it get transferred the rights or not. We have tested two times with fictional artists and song titles from inscriptions of a hand dryer, food and kitchen appliances from the supermarket.

In November 2012, a series of benefit concerts at the gates of the threatened closure of the Ford plant in Genk had to be canceled by the organizing unions because SABAM not want to give up performance fees.
