Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago

The Sabana Camagüey archipelago - (Spanish Archipelago de Sabana - Camagüey ) is a chain of islands off the north coast of Cuba, which consists of a variety of Cays. It is located on the coast of the provinces of Matanzas, Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Ávila and Camagüey. The archipelago extends from northwest to southeast over a length of 475 km and can be geographically in a north-western section ( Archipelago de Sabana ) and a southeastern section ( Archipelago de Camagüey ) are divided.

The Sabana Camagüey archipelago, is home to flamingos and numerous marine animals and plants that make their home in this aquatic ecosystem. The variety of plant and animal life is protected with funds of an international relief fund. There are more than 35 protected areas, here are mainly the Bahia de Buenavista and the National Park Caguanes mentioned.

The beaches and coral reefs of the archipelago provide space for numerous recreational activities. When tourists are mainly the islands of the Jardines del Rey, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, popular.
