Sacred Reich

Sacred Reich is an American thrash metal band from Phoenix, Arizona, founded in 1985, disbanded in 2000 and since 2007 again prevents concerts.

History

The band was founded in 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona, by bassist and vocalist Phil Rind, guitarist Jeff Martinek and Jason Rainey, and drummer Greg Hall. Their first demo Draining You of Life appeared in 1986. Purpose, the future singer Phil Rind had indeed already written the lyrics, however, they were sung by Dan Kelly, who should no longer appear in the later band history. Nationally known the demo was, among others, by the support of Jason Newsted. The piece was first published Ignorance on the compilation Metal Massacre, it was followed by a contract with Metal Blade Records Brian Slagelse. 1987 there appeared the debut album Ignorance, on the beef took over in addition to the bass guitar and the vocals. Guitarist Martinek had now lost his post at Wiley Arnett. After the EP Surf Nicaragua had been published in 1988, the Draining You of Life by Sacred Reich demo, as well as a cover version of Black Sabbath's War Pigs contained, the band has seen increased attention. The release was followed by a world tour. In 1988, the band held a tour from the USA, together with atrophy and Forbidden. This was followed by another tour with Motörhead in Europe. In 1989, more appearances typically connected in Europe along with Forbidden. In the same year the band recorded at Dynamo Open Air, the live EP Live at Dynamo. Meanwhile at Enigma Records, Sacred Reich released in 1990, the second studio album The American Way. In early 1991 drummer Greg Hall left the band and was replaced by Dave McClain. It was followed by a tour with Sepultura. After the collapse of Enigma Records, the band moved to Hollywood Records, where the end of 1991, the Single A Question appeared, followed by the third studio album Independent ( 1993). The members of the band consisted of beef next to the guitarist and drummer Dave Arnett and Rainey McClain. It was followed by appearances in Europe, of which some had to be canceled due to illness again. She also played concerts in the U.S., along with Pantera and Danzig. After Hollywood Records in 1994 dissolved the record deal, it was relatively quiet around the band in 1995. They contributed their version of the Black Sabbath song Sweet Leaf contribute to the album Hempilation. They also took in a version of Judas Priest's Rapid Fire, with Rob Halford acted as guest vocalist. However, this recording is unpublished to this day. After the band to Metal Blade Records had returned, she published in early 1996 the album Heal. Even before its publication drummer McClain was changed to Machine Head and was initially replaced by Chuck Fitzgerald. With it, Sacred Reich denied the tour for this album. The end of 1996 was a founding member Greg Hall back to the band. With it, Sacred Reich denied in December 1996 made ​​some appearances in her home city of Phoenix, in which the recording of the live album Still Ignorant were recorded. The album was released in 1997 on Metal Blade. In 2000, Sacred Reich broke up. In 2001, Wiley Arnett with St. Madness vocalist Patrick Flannery the band The Human Condition. Meanwhile, Hall appeared in October 2001 for a short time in for a few studio sessions Soulfly.

As announced in November 2006, the band for a few gigs in the summer of 2007 reunited. They played among others at Wacken Open Air 2007. A double CD including a DVD was released under the name Surf Ignorance in June 2007. Included are the LP Ignorance, the EP Surf Nicaragua and the demo Draining You of Life as well as bonus material.

Also in 2009, Sacred Reich were from May to June in Europe again on the road and played among others at the Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen.

Style

The lyrics of the band themed primarily social and political issues from a critical view of the U.S. Republican policies of the Reagan and Bush eras. The band is an important representative of the thrash metal genre, some songs are called "classics".
