Sacrower See

The Sacrower Lake is a lake in Brandenburg in the north of the city of Potsdam in the district Sacrow.

He is a calcareous, stratified lowland lake.

Together with the much shallower, 0.7 km north -lying bulk Glienicker Lake and 1.6 km distant, southern holy lake in Potsdam he forms a chain of lakes, which lies in a glacial trough.

It extends in a north-south direction over 2.8 kilometers. Its width is a maximum of 460 meters and 190 meters at its narrowest point. On the southeast shore of the lake is the Potsdam district Sacrow. The remaining banks are passed of forest that is part of the nature reserve forest king.

The lake water is weakly eutrophic. The average Secchi depth is 70 inches in the summer.

During the division of Berlin, the lake was part of the border area and under guard. 1986 Rainer Liebeke drowned while trying to flee from East Germany, in the water.
