Sadiq Khan

Sadiq Aman Khan ( born October 8, 1970 in London ) is a British Labour Party politician and since June 2005, MP in the House of Commons for his home constituency of Tooting, London.

Khan studied law at the University of North London. After his bar exam at the College of Law ( CoL) in Guildford. Subsequently, he worked as a solicitor for Human Rights Louise Christian. He was also chairman of the human rights group Liberty.

1994 Khan was elected to the Council of the London Borough of Wandsworth. The seat he held until 2006. Having the Labour MP for Tooting, Tom Cox, 2003 had announced his resignation to Khan sat in internal party primaries as a candidate by. At the general election in 2005 he was elected with 43.1 % of votes.

Beginning of February 2008 became Khan in the headlines, as collected by the Sunday Times allegations that had been intercepted one of his conversations with a risk of deportation to the United States, friend of the Terrorist Division ( SO13 ) of the London Metropolitan Police. Justice Secretary Jack Straw launched an investigation into the incident. The police have, however, with their approach does not violate any rules, in particular the Wilson Doctrine, which indeed forbid the interception of deputies to order by the Minister of the Interior, not in general.
