Sadler's Wells Theatre

Sadler's Wells is a theater complex in Islington, London. After a checkered history the Sadler's Wells Theatre in the 20th and 21st century leading to the London stage for ballet and modern dance theater was. History

The Sadler 's Wells dates back to 1683, founded by Richard Sadler Musick House. The composer Francis Forcer (1650-1704) in 1697 became a partner in the year and held concerts there. In the 1980s there was again briefly an opera company at Sadler 's Wells, The New Sadler's Wells Opera.

The Sadler's Wells Theatre is dedicated since the 1990s, again almost entirely to dance. It produces itself and also functions as guest performance theater for touring productions.

After the last performance in the old theater on 30 June 1996 the house was demolished and re-opened in its current form on 11 October 1998.
