SAE – World Council of Hellenes Abroad

SAE - World Council of Hellenes Abroad ( in Greece: Συμβούλιο Απόδημου Ελληνισμού ) is the association of the Greek diaspora. The organization is based Thessaloniki.

History

Until 1995 there was no representation of Greeks abroad, this role is partly taken up by church organizations. In order against the Greek government speak with one voice concerns, the SAE was founded. Meanwhile Greece recognizes the organization as the representative of Greeks abroad. The initiative for the establishment went back to Andrew Athens from the U.S..
