Sæby is a Danish harbor town in the region Nordjylland on the Kattegat. Until December 31, 2006 Sæby was the capital of a municipality Sæby own municipality in the former Hjørring office, now this 8770 inhabitants, in the countryside Vendsyssel municipality belongs (as of 1 January 2013) to Frederikshavn in North Jutland. Frederikshavn is located about twelve kilometers north, Aalborg 50 km southwest. Both cities can be reached via the motorway-like Frederikshavnmotorvejen (E 45), which passes nearby.

History

When trade recurrent flourished in the 1840s, already held Frederikshavn supremacy in the region. With the further north Frederikshavn a rail link was built in 1899, which was abandoned in 1968.
