The SafeNet, Inc. is a U.S. company for information security solutions for protecting data in the " Data at rest ", " data in motion " and "Data in Use", as well as licensing solutions for applications and "Embedded Software ".

History

SafeNet was founded in 1983 in Timonium, Maryland, under the name Industrial Resource Engineering ( IRE). At the start of sales of security solutions was to protect public and private networks of financial institutions at the center, then the U.S. government was added as a customer. Based on their own VPN product line, the company was renamed in 2001 in SafeNet., 2005, SafeNet 1,043 employees worldwide, including 469 engineers in the field of encryption. The company is owned by Vector Capital, a capital company headquartered in San Francisco, California.
