Säffle

Saffle is a town in the Swedish province of Värmland County, the historical province of Värmland.

The chief town of the same name in 1951 was granted town rights, making it the youngest city in Sweden. Saffle is located on the European highways 45 and 18

History

Saffle is located on Byälven, a tributary of Lake Vänern. During archaeological excavations in the city area to found a settlement from the Iron Age. The actual development thrust it was carried out in 1837 by the expansion of the river to the canal. The town received in 1879 a station on the Vänernbanan 1882 and gained the status of a market town ( Linköping ). At this time Saffle had about 700 inhabitants.
