Sahlenburg ( Low German Sohl'nborg ) is a resort town on the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony and is located in the west of Cuxhaven town area. Sahlenburg southwest borders to the neighboring spa town of Cuxhaven and is also one of the tourist centers in Cuxland.
Tourism
Sahlenburg applies as Dosen as a family resort, since the prices are generally lower here than for example in Cuxhaven. Sahlenburg has little traffic in large parts. Before the high-rise apartment houses are open plan parking for day visitors. Public transport is accomplished by buses, which also make the connection to the next station in the center of Cuxhaven.

History
In 18,000 BC, the first finds of flint tools of Ice Age mammoth hunters are dated in Sahlenburger Penn Moor. 1325 was the Sahlenburg the Lords of Lappe, a noble family first mentioned. Around 1400, the landlords moved their residence in a stone castle after Ritzebüttel in Cuxhaven. This building is considered a precursor to the castle Ritzebüttel. A reliable explanation for the place name " Sahlenburg " does not exist today. 1871 got Sahlenburg with the introduction of the Hamburg Municipal Code own community council. In September 1906, the first German Seehospital was opened on a 35 -acre heath land. For the districts of Cuxhaven Altenbruch Altenwalde, Lüdingworth and Sahlenburg local councils are elected. Local councils are directly elected in the municipal elections in Lower Saxony. The Ortsrat elect a mayor in the inaugural meeting of its members. Mayor of Sahlenburg is Herbert Kihm.
