Saint-Andiol
Saint- Andiol is a commune with 3211 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.
Geography
The municipality is located eight kilometers west of Cavaillon, 12 km northeast of Saint- Remy- de -Provence.
In the north, bordering the municipality of Noves and Cabannes, to the east by plan Orgon, to the south Mollégès, on the west by Saint- Remy- de -Provence and again Noves and to the northwest by Verquières.
History
Was raised as Arelate in the 3rd century to the colony, the territory of Saint- Andiol was part of it. Later the village was probably around an unknown religious place, which was dedicated to Saint- Andiol.
The original name of the village was Andeol. In the 17th century it appeared under the name of Saint- Andéol. It is therefore likely that the present name is still relatively young.
