Saint-André-de-Boëge

Saint -André -de- Boëge called to 1935 Saint -André, is a village in Haute - Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Saint -André -de- Boëge is located on 735 m above sea level. M., about 20 km east of the city of Geneva (air line). The scattered settlement municipality extends in the Vallée Verte in an open valley widening, which is drained by the Menoge, at the eastern foot of the mountain range Les Voirons in the northwestern Savoy Alps.

History

The village was probably founded in the 12th or 13th century, after the monks of Saint -Jean- d'Aulps had made the area under cultivation. In 1867 the hamlet Curseille and La corbière who had previously heard about Fillinges were reallocated the town of Saint -André. By decree that name in 1935, the addition de Boëge added in order to better ensure the distinctness with other municipalities of the same name. With the Canton Boëge joined Saint -André -de- Boëge 1939 by arrondissement Bonneville for Arrondissement of Thonon- les- Bains.

Attractions

The village of Saint-André church was built at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1878, the Chapelle de Planet inaugurated on the eastern slopes of Les Voirons.

Population

With 601 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Saint -André -de- Boëge is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. Continuous growth of the population since the mid- 1970s has been recorded.
