Saint Balbina

The Holy Balbina (* 2nd century in Rome † 130 in Rome ) is a Catholic saint and martyr. Your feast day is March 31. Shown she is with a chain in his hand, pointing to the sky a angel and a scepter. She is the patron saint against sore throat and goiter.

Life

According to legend, Balbina was the daughter of the Roman tribune Quirinus, with whom she was murdered by 130 because of their Christian faith. In the dungeon they met the Roman bishop Alexander, who was guarded by her father. When she touched the chains, they shall be freed from her neck suffering. Quirinus was in the year 119 in Rome after the miraculous recovery of his daughter Balbina baptized with his whole family, which he drew the enmity of the Emperor Hadrian on itself, then beheaded, and himself became a martyr. The torture scenes of Quirinus and the Holy Balbina are shown in the altar and choir of the parish church of St. Nicholas in Selfkantbahn - Millen.
