Saint Glyceria

Glyceria († 177 in Heraclea Sintike ) was a Christian martyr and saint.

According to tradition, Glyceria was to have been the daughter of a Roman consul or senator named Macarius. She herself was born according to legend from Trajanopolis in Greece and was a Christian virgin when she suffered martyrdom. The Präses Sabinus asked them to sacrifice to the Roman gods. Glyceria known to be Christians and prayed to God, after which the images of Roman gods fell to the ground. It hung Glyeria her by the hair on, tortured her with iron claws and threw them into prison. As Sabinus moved to Heraclea, and Glyceria was taken there and thrown into a furnace, without this you could have something. Finally, they threw them from the wild animals. Glyceria, however, died without her body was any injury marks.
