Near Bruneval ( French place name La Poterie -Cap- d'Antifer ) a British commando captured with the assistance of French Resistance fighters on February 27, 1942 important components of a "Würzburg " radar of the Wehrmacht. During surgery Biting the troops landed by parachute at night and attacked the German position. With the disassembled components and a technician caught the soldiers returned in boats to England.

Demographics

Economy

Between 1967 and 1975 the Suez Canal was closed due to the tensions in the Middle East and oil tankers had to choose the much longer route around the Cape of Good Hope. In response, larger tankers were put into operation, however, had too much depth to run the old port of Le Havre. Therefore it was decided to build an Outer Harbour in Saint- Jouin- Bruneval. However, the temporal sequence turned out to be unfavorable, because in the years since the opening of the Seaport, the Suez Canal, which is basically not passable for the new supertanker was reopened. To improve the utilization of the port of Saint- Jouin- Bruneval, is planned to convert it into a dock for LNG carriers. This would be associated with re- conversions and a further increase, which has met with some of the local population, violent resistance.
