Saint-Léger-Vauban

Saint -Léger -Vauban is a French municipality with 393 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the arrondissement of the department of Yonne Avallon in the Burgundy region.

The municipality is located in Morvan Natural Regional Park (in French Parc naturel régional du Morvan ). It is the birthplace of the architect Sébastien le Prestre de Vauban, the military architect, was the French King Louis XIV in the 17th century. In his honor the town's original name Saint- Léger- Foucheret 1867 renamed Saint -Léger -Vauban. In the forests of Morvan is the Benedictine Abbey of Sainte Marie de la Pierre- qui - Vire, which was not formed until 1850.
