Saint Nicomedes

Saint Nicomedes was a Roman martyr, whose precise lifetime is unknown.

His grave is located at Via Nomentana about it has already built an early Cömeterialkirche.

According to legend, Nicomedes was a priest and disciple of St. Peter, and to the holy Petronilla have stood in agony. He was beaten to death under Domitian. The head of Nicomedes to have been kept first in the Basilica of St. Nicomed (Mainz), and later in the church of the Benedictine monastery of St. Jacob in Mainz. As the grave Nikomedeskatakombe in Rome is specified.
