Saint-Pierre Doré

Saint- Pierre Doré is a white grape variety. It is an indigenous grape variety of the French département of Allier. Although the species is still allowed for the appellation Saint- Pourçain, no new vineyards are created with this variety. After another 125 hectares under vine were collected in 1958, area are currently (as of 2005 ) barely more than two acres known. Smaller experimental plots were created in Canada.

The grew strong, early maturing variety is susceptible to the diseases powdery mildew and gray mold. It also does not tolerate late frost. The gekelterte wine has a low alcohol content and low acidity. The white wines thus have little structure. Saint- Pierre Doré is a variety of the noble vine (Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphrodite flowers and is thus self- fruiting. When the wine-growing economic drawback is avoided, no return delivered to male plants need to grow.

INRA Montpellier ( Institut National de la Recherche en Agronomy ) took advantage of the variety the intersection of new breeding Aranel.
