Saint Ubaldo Day

The Festa dei Ceri ( " wax candles run" ) of Gubbio is a race in honor of the Holy Ubald of Gubbio, George and Anthony, who supported the city of Gubbio in the war against other cities.

The Corsa dei Ceri is celebrated the day before of Sant'Ubaldo on May 15. The winner must always be Sant'Ubaldo, as this is the city's patron saint. Therefore, the Corsa dei Ceri is also called " the running of the Insane ", because the end is already determined at the beginning of the run.
