Šaľa District

The Okres Šaľa is an administrative region in the south of Slovakia with 54.110 inhabitants (2004, 2001, there were 52 718, of which 33.435/61, 19.283/35 and Slovak 9%, 7% Hungarian) and an area of 356 km ².

Historically, the district is located for the most part in the former county Neutra ( East), a small part in the west to the places Diakovce, Tešedíkovo and Žihárec part of the former county Pressburg ( see also List of historic counties of Hungary ).
