Salah El Mahdi

Salah El Mahdi ( born 9 February 1925 in Tunis ) Arabic صالح المهدي Mohamed Salah Ben Abderrahmane Ibn Mehdi Cherif is a Tunisian musicologist, musician and composer.

Life

El Mahdi comes from a musical family; with his father, a music teacher, the elite tunisischer musicians and musicians from abroad gathered. After school education and a musicological studies at the University of Ez- Zitouna from 1941 his studies at the Law Faculty of the National School of Administration continue .. Later, he earned his doctorate at the University of Poitiers. In addition, he was from the age of 18 years, a music teacher at Rasbidia Institute, which he directed from 1949. Since 1951 he worked as a judge. From 1957 to 1979 he was responsible for the construction of a musical education in the Tunisian government and founded the Conservatory of his native town, which he also directed. He also initiated the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra as well as a national training center for the psalmody of the Koran. He also worked internationally in UNESCO and the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture.

As a musician, he has emerged primarily as Neyspieler; numerous appearances were sent by radio. He composed the first Tunisian national anthem, Ala. Khallidi, but also numerous other works, songs as well as symphonic works. He was also on the ethno - jazz production Noon in Tunisia (1967 ) involved and then went over again with George Gruntz on tour.
