The Salahaddin University ( Kurdish: Zankoy Selaheddin ) is the oldest university in the Iraqi Kurdistan Autonomous Region, based in Arbil. The motto of the university reads: May God increase my knowledge. Current Rector is Dr. Mohammed Sadik. The number of places is 18,000.

The University was founded in 1968 and was originally located in Sulaymaniyah. In 1981, the University was moved to Arbil.

Initially, the number of chairs seven: science, agriculture, engineering, management, arts, education and medicine. In 1985, the Department of Law and Politics was founded in 1995 and the Department of Dentistry. In 2004 there were already 22 chairs. 2005, a number of chairs was spun off and the Medical University of Hawler added.

The Salahaddin University is a member of the International Association of Universities and features many internationally recognized qualifications such as PhD, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Science. The medical school also offers a degree in Medical.
