Saldurkamm with the Lagaunspitze ( left) and the Saldurspitze

The Saldurspitze (Italian: Punta Saldura ), also called Salurnspitze, is a 3433 meter high mountain in Saldurkamm in the southern Ötztal Alps in the Italian province of South Tyrol. Together with the slightly higher Lagaunspitze it forms a double pyramid with an impressive panoramic view. The mountain sends distinctive ridges to the north, southeast and southwest. The first ascent was in 1853 held as part of the Austrian military land surveying, the touristy Saldurspitze is celebrated since 1876. Due to its remote location far away from shelters and places it belongs to the rarely visited peaks of the Ötztal Alps.

Location

The Saldurkamm is a slightly curved towards the east mountain range, which takes its beginning in the north, south of the White ball and drags to Mastauntal in a length of about 10 kilometers. The most important peak is the Saldurspitze. This mountain and the surrounding peaks of the Saldurkamms have east to Schnalstal towards a large geographical dominance. The tip is surrounded by glaciers, on the east side is the split in several ice rinks in the wake of global warming Lagaunferner and west of the Northern Saldurferner. Neighboring mountains are 3439 meters high Lagaunspitze which is seen together with the Saldurspitze than double pyramid during the Südostgrats. During the south-eastern ridge, separated by a notch at 3358 meters altitude, is the 3429 -meter-high Upper Saldurkopf, is located on the north ridge of Saldurspitze, separated by a firnbedecktes yoke ( 3225 m), the Lazaunspitze with 3313 meters of altitude. The place Maso Corto ( Maso Corto ) Senales is located about four kilometers in a straight line to the northeast of Saldurspitze.

Perpetration

The path of the first ascent on September 7, 1876 Carl hedge of Reichenbach and his mountain guide Gabriel Spechtenhauser from Vent led from Maso Corto in a southwesterly direction across the Lagaunferner the north ridge to the summit of Saldurspitze and Lagaunspitze. Despite the impressive views of the Saldurspitze and its neighboring peaks are rarely climbed, so Wegverläufe are in the upper part often not recognizable. Starting point for an inspection on the normal route ( route of first ascent ) is the village of Maso Corto to 2011 meters. From the village, the route runs in a westerly direction initially on the way up to number 11 Lazaunalm ( 2427 m), then further along on a barely recognizable Steindaubenweg to the northern part of the Lagaunferners. It continues as a high tour with proper equipment and experience about the split -rich glacier and the north ridge in easy climbing in difficulty in UIAA I, according to the literature, five hours to the summit. Also on the other ridges lead partially serious climbing up to UIAA III Difficulty on the Saldurspitze.
