Salenstein

Sale stone, in the local dialect Saleschte [ saləʃtə ], is a municipality in the district of Kreuzlingen in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland.

Geography

Sale stone lies on the south shore of the lower lake, opposite the island of Reichenau and comprises the villages of Sale Stone, Bach and Fruthwilen.

History and name

In Sale, there are three stone grave mounds from the early Iron Age. The first mention of the name "Sale stone " is from 1092. Ever since belonged to the most important basic rights and rule of the monastery of Reichenau.
