Salida is a small city in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located in the central part of the state in a wide valley of the Arkansas, which is enclosed by the Sawatch, the Sangre de Cristo and the Mosquito Range.

History

Salida was founded in 1880 and was originally a railway town, which was a major hub in the network of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. End of the Second World War the railway withdrew from Salida and the inhabitants focused on the livestock or working north of Leadville in today orphaned Climax, where the Climax Molybdenum Company due to its rich deposit maintained a molybdenum mine.
