Sally Oppenheim-Barnes, Baroness Oppenheim-Barnes

Sally Oppenheim - Barnes, Baroness Oppenheim - Barnes PC ( born July 26, 1930 in Dublin), née Viner, is a British Conservative Party politician.

Life and career

She was born on 26 July 1930 as Sally Viner, the daughter of a diamond grinder in Dublin in Ireland. She attended school in Sheffield, as well as the Lowther College.

Later she worked as a social worker in London at the Inner London Education Authorithy ( ILEA ) before they became politically active. In 1970, she was president of the Conservative Club of Gloucester.

Membership in the House of Commons

In the general election in 1970, she defeated John Diamond in the constituency of Gloucester. Diamond was the only cabinet minister who was defeated in the election. Some, therefore, found their former activities as appropriate Diamantenschleiferin.

She represented Gloucester until 1987. She was Vice President at the national level ( National Vice - President) of the National Mobile Homes Residents' Association. From 1973 to 1979 she was Vice -President of the National Union of Town Women's Guilds. She was also Vice President of the Western Centre of Public Health Inspectors.
