Salomão Barbosa Ferraz

Dom Salomão Barbosa Ferraz ( born February 18, 1880 in Jaú, Brazil, † May 11, 1969 ) was a Catholic bishop in Brazil.

The former Presbyterian and Anglican priest consecrated 1917, founded 1936, the Iglesia Católica Libre ( predecessor of today's Igreja Católica Apostólica Independente do Brasil ) and was elected its first bishop, but not consecrated. He was married and the father of seven children. At the age of 65 years, he was ordained by the former Roman Catholic Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa Botucatu on 18 July 1945 and priest on 15 August 1945 to the bishop. In the Igreja Católica Brasileira Apostólica recently, founded in Rio de Janeiro, by Duarte Costa on July 6, 1945, he served as the first diocesan bishop of São Paulo.

On December 8, 1959 Bishop Ferraz Salomão took under Pope John XXIII. full communion to the Roman Catholic Church. On 10 May 1963, he was now 83 years old, was appointed as Titular Bishop of Eleutherna (without any reordination ). In this capacity he took part in the Second Vatican Council. After nearly 24 years of episcopate he died on 11 May 1969 at the age of 90.
