Saltillo Soccer

Saltillo Soccer, also known as Coyotes de Saltillo, is a former football club from Saltillo, the capital of the Mexican state of Coahuila.

History

Prior to the 1995/96 season of CF Monterrey acquired the license to participate in the introduced in the pre-season La Liga 'A' to maintain a branch team in the second highest football league in Mexico, which he transplanted under the above name by Saltillo.

In its second year, the Coyotes met in the quarterfinals of the tournament at the 1996 Winter relegated the year before archrival their " main association" Monterrey, Tigres UANL the, and defied them in two games each from a 1-1. This, however, was enough for the Tigres, who later both tournaments of the 1996/97 season won and thus the immediate return to the Primera División warranted, to progress because they had achieved in the point round more points (35 ) as the Coyotes (24).

A similarly unfortunate end the Coyotes experienced in the quarter- finals of the summer tournament in 1997, when, although they won the return match by the same score after a 0-1 home defeat against Cruz Azul Hidalgo, but due to point - and Torgleichheit again due to the points less achieved in the regular season (26 vs. 27 ) were eliminated.

Even in the two competitions in the following season (1997/ 98) the Coyotes eliminated each of the quarter-finals and reached in subsequent seasons never again Liguillas.

Prior to the 2001/02 season, the rivals agreed in the Monterrey area an exchange of their licenses. So Saltillo Soccer came under the care of the UANL Tigres and entered from then on under the name Tigrillos Saltillo.

In the summer tournament of 2002, the second half of their first season, 2001/ 02, invaded the Tigrillos to the finals before, where they run two dramatic encounters with Real San Luis and (after a 4-1 home win and a subsequent 0-3 away defeat ) documents in a penalty shoot-out. At the end of the 2002 /03 Tigrillos were transferred to Mexico City, where they performed under the name Tigrillos Coapa. This decision on the part of the UANL Tigres was the (temporary ) end of the second division football in Saltillo, the 1974-1976 with the introduction of Halcones de Saltillo started in the Segunda División and in the 1990/91 season by the Leones de Saltillo a short continuation had experienced.
