Salvador Durán

Salvador Durán Sánchez (born 6 May 1985 in Mexico City) is a Mexican racing driver.

Career

Durán began his motorsport career in karting in 2000, where he was active until 2003. After he had already made first in the 2002 U.S. Barber Series experience in Formula racing, he was runner-up in 2003 of the national formula Dogde and he also participated in three races in the Barber Dodge Pro Series. In 2004 he moved to Europe and drove both in the Italian Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. While he finished 20th overall in the Eurocup, he was in the Italian Formula Renault with three podium finishes eighth. 2005, the Mexicans went to the national class of the British Formula 3 Championship at the start and won with nine wins the championship this rating.

In the following winter Durán started in the first season of the A1GP series for his native Mexico. While his teammates could only occasionally get points, get him two wins in Laguna Seca. He then moved to the British team Hitech Racing and denied his second season in the British Formula 3 Durán could not keep up with his teammates James Jakes and James Walker this season and finished the season behind the two tenth overall. He has recorded more failures than his teammates together. In the season 2006/2007 Durán was again active in the A1GP series and denied the most races for his team. At the beginning of 2007 he won along with Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Pruett the 24 Hours of Daytona. In the same season he received a cockpit for the World Series by Renault at Interwetten.com. Already the second race in Monza him his first victory in the new series succeeded. With further three podium finishes at the end of the season, he finished eighth in the championship. He was significantly better than his teammate Daniil Mowe, who was never in the top ten pilots. In the 2007/2008 A1GP season of Mexicans started only on a race weekend and still scored more points than his teammates, who began the remainder of the season. In 2008 he stayed with Interwetten.com and denied his second season in the World Series by Renault. His new team-mate was his compatriot Pablo Sánchez López. Durán again won a race and finished the season ranked ninth in the overall standings.

After he left again in winter 2008/2009 with some of the A1GP race at the start, Durán initially received no cockpit for the upcoming season. In the last two rounds of the World Series by Renault in 2009, he returned to Interwetten.com and remained without points. In 2010 he moved to the NASCAR Corona Series and finished after the eleventh race on the 16th place in the overall standings. In addition, he took part once again for Interwetten.com on the last race weekend of the World Series by Renault. He retired in both races.
