Salvador Machado

Salvador Machado Agüero ( * Ciudad Segovia) was a politician and from June 1 to July 6, 1893 President of Nicaragua.

Salvador Machado Agüero belonged to the flow of Progresistas within the Partido Republicano. He was a deputy in the Parliament.

On April 28, 1893 rebel commander of the garrison of Granada ( Nicaragua), Eduardo Montiel of the Partido Conservador, against President Roberto Sacaza, also from the Partido Conservador. Joaquín Zavala Solís agreed to support the uprising. The rebels were supported by General José Santos Zelaya of the Liberal Party. The Catholic Church and his family supported Roberto Sacaza. The rebels occupied Masaya and moving toward Managua. At La Barranca, the rebels defeated the government troops. The U.S. ambassador Lewis Baker offered itself to mediation.
