Macedonian sage (Salvia jurisicii )

The Macedonian sage (Salvia jurisicii ) is a species of the genus sage (Salvia ) in the mint family ( Lamiaceae).

Features

The Macedonian sage is a perennial plant that stature heights of 25 to 30, rarely up to 60 centimeters reached. On stems are projecting long hair. The leaves are pinnatisect and have four to six narrow linealistische sections.

The flowers are rotated, the crown lower lip facing upward. The cup is 3 to 5 (up to 6 ) mm long. The crown is 9 to 12 ( to 14 ) mm long, violet-blue.

The flowering period extends from June to September.

Occurrence

The species occurs in Macedonia before at altitudes around 280 meters.

Use

The Macedonian sage is rarely used as an ornamental plant in rock gardens. He is culture since at least 1922. The cultivar ' Alba' has a white crown.
