Sam Bottoms

Sam Bottoms ( born October 17, 1955 as Samuel John Bottoms in Santa Barbara, † 16 December 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor. His most famous role was that of Lance B. Johnson in Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now.

Life

Sam Bottoms was born in 1955 as the third of four sons in Santa Barbara. At the age of ten he began to act in a theater in his hometown. His three brothers, Timothy Bottoms, Joseph Bottoms and Ben Bottoms beat a professional acting career. His first film appearance was in 1971 as Billy Sam Bottoms on the side of Timothy in the drama The Last Picture Show by Peter Bogdanovich; life he has acted in over 50 films and television series with. On 16 December 2008, he died at his home in Los Angeles of a brain tumor.

Bottoms was married twice. From his first marriage two children come. The second marriage to film producer Laura Bickford lasted from 2002 until his death.
