SAM Coupé

The SAM Coupé was an 8 -bit home computers from the UK, which was launched in 1989. Commonly the computer is viewed as a clone of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, as he had a compatible screen mode and was able to emulate the programs of this device. The computer was originally produced by the British company Miles Gordon Technology ( MGT).

Hardware

The computer based on the Z80B CPU with a processor speed of 6 MHz, and containing an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), which was compatible with the ULA Company Sinclair. The basic model of the computer had 256 KB of memory, which could be expanded to 512 KB internal and external up to 4 MB. The mass memory used mainly took place over a cassette recorder, although it also could connect up to two 3.5 -inch floppy disk drives to the device. Sounds and music of the computer have been produced by a Philips SAA 1099.
