Sam Ngao District

Amphoe Sam Ngao ( Thai: อำเภอ สามเงา ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in Tak Province in northern Thailand.

Location

Amphoe Sam Ngao is located in the extreme northeast of the province of Tak and borders three other provinces of the country, Chiang Mai, Lamphun and Lampang.

History

Amphoe Sam Ngao in 1930 initially as a small district ( King Amphoe ) Amphoe Ban Tak built in. Was the name initially Tha Pui ( ท่า ปุย ), the King Amphoe been renamed to its present name Sam Ngao 1939. In 1958 the upgrading to a full Amphoe.

Geography

Amphoe Sam Ngao located in the northeast of the province of Tak and borders clockwise from the south seen at the Amphoe Ban Tak and Mae Ramat in Tak province, Omkoi and Doi Tao in Chiang Mai province, Thung Hua Chang in the province of Lamphun and Mae phrik and Thoen in the province of Lampang.

Most important sources of water for agricultural use in the Amphoe are the rivers Ping and Wang. The Bhumibol Dam is an artificial lake of about 300 sq km area to prevent flooding on the one hand, on the other hand, as a hydroelectric power plant supplies electricity.

Management

Amphoe Sam Ngao consists of six sub-districts ( tambon), which further into 43 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Sam Ngao ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล สามเงา ) is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it consists of parts of the tambon Sam Ngao.

In addition, there are six " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
