Sam Noto

Sam Noto ( born April 17, 1930 in Buffalo, New York) is an American jazz trumpeter. He played with Stan Kenton and Count Basie.

Life

Noto began his career in 1947, played in 1953 and 1956 with Stan Kenton, later at Louie Bellson / Pearl Bailey (1959) and 1964/65 at Count Basie. In 1965 he founded with Joe Romano, a quintet. From 1969 to 1975 he worked at clubs in Las Vegas, he moved to Toronto, where he played with among others with Kenny Drew, Al Cohn and Dexter Gordon, and Rob McConnell in the 1970 's and 1980's recorded several albums.
