Samfundet De Nio

Samfundet De Nio ( Community of Nine ) is a Swedish Academy of Letters with nine seats, which was founded on 14 February 1913 in Stockholm. The foundation was based on the will of the writer Lotten of Kraemer on June 2, 1910.

The aim of the Community is the support of literary works as well as of women and peace issues. The members of the Academy are elected for life, but can prematurely resign in contrast to the Swedish Academy. Four seats are reserved for women and four for men. The Association is headed since 1988 by the spokesperson Inge Jonsson. The first chair of the word leader is constantly changing between a man and a woman.
