Sami Lepistö

Sami Lepisto ( born October 17, 1984 in Espoo ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey defender who beiAwtomobilist 2013 Yekaterinburg in the Kontinental Hockey League is under contract since June. His father Jussi was also a professional hockey player.

Career

Sami Lepisto began his career as a hockey player in his native Finland for Jokerit Helsinki. In the 2003/04 season, his first season in professional hockey, scored seven points scorer of the defenders, including three goals, in the SM- liiga. He was then selected during the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 by the Washington Capitals in the third round than a total of 66 players. First, the Finn played three more years for Jokerit before he was admitted for the 2007 /08 season in the squad of Washington's farm team, the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. In the same season Lepisto made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in which he was seven times for the Capitals used and generated Assist. In the 2008 / 09 season, Lepisto played mainly for the Hershey Bears in the AHL and won with the team the Calder Cup. On 28 August 2011, shortly before the trade deadline, the Coyotes traded him along with Scottie Upshall Rostislav Klesla and Dane Byers from the Columbus Blue Jackets. On 15 July 2011 Lepisto signed as a free agent a contract for one year with the Chicago Blackhawks.

In June 2012, Lepisto moved to Europe and signed a one-year contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League. Shortly before the end of 2012 his contract was dissolved by mutual agreement with locomotive. About two weeks later Lepisto was obliged by HC Lev Prague.

Internationally

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010, he represented the Finnish national team and won the bronze medal with the team. Also at the 2014 Olympic Games he won the bronze medal with the Finnish national team.
