Samir Handanović

Samir Handanovič ( * July 14 1984 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian football goalkeeper. He plays since July 2012 for Inter Milan in Serie A. His older cousin Jasmine is also a professional footballer.

Career

Clubs

After he hardly got time to use beginning at Udinese Calcio, he was successively loaned to FBC Treviso, Lazio and Rimini Calcio. Since 2007 he was a regular goalkeeper for Udinese. In August 2011, he extended his contract until the end of June 2016.

In the summer 2012, he moved to league rivals Inter Milan. However, Udinese kept a portion of the transfer rights. The Milan paid in return eleven million euro and performed 50 percent of the transfer rights of Davide Faraoni to Udinese from. In June 2013 Inter acquired the remaining shares to transfer Handanovič.

National

Since 2004 Handanovič plays in the Slovenian national team. This took Handanovič at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where he was on the court in every game of his team over the full game time, a departure of the Slovenian team in the first round but could not prevent.

Samir Handanovič is a member of the Bosniak ethnicity. His parents originally came from the Bosnian- Herzegovinian town of Sanski Most, but rallied in the former Yugoslavia for professional reasons in the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana. His older cousin Jasmin Handanovič is also the goalkeeper.
