Samo Gostiša

Samo Gostisa ( born September 16, 1972 in Logatec ) is a former Yugoslav and Slovenian ski jumper later.

Career

Gostisa jumped on March 24, 1990 for the first time in the context of ski flying in Planica his adopted country for the first time in the Ski Jumping World Cup. The then -starting nor Yugoslavia Gostisa, was taken despite rather mediocre results in his first season in 1991 in the ski jumping squad of newly established Slovenian Ski Association. On January 4, 1992, he reached the Slovenian jersey first World Cup points. When jumping in Innsbruck in the Four Hills Tournament 1991/92 he was twelfth. Even a day later in Bischofshofen, he was able to repeat this placement. Two weeks after the tour, he jumped in St. Moritz for the first time with an 8th place in the top ten at a World Cup competition.

At the Olympic Winter Games in Albertville in 1992 Gostisa jumped on the normal hill on the 12th Place and in the large hill together with the Swiss Stefan ignition to 22nd position. In the team competition, he reached the 6th place in cooperation with Franci Petek, Matjaž Zupan and Primoz Kopač.

For the 1992/93 season he started for the first time in the Continental Cup (COC ) after he could not achieve any success in the first season of jumping in the World Cup. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1993 in Falun, he jumped surprising to 6th place on the normal hill and the large hill reached by the 18th Place. In the team competition at the end of the season he could jump on the podium in Planica for the first and last time in his career with third place.

In the following season 1993/94 he started again exclusively in the World Cup, but remained in all jumping back far short of expectations. At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, he was again included in the squad of Slovenia and jumped on the normal hill on the 28th place. In the team competition, he reached the 9th place together with Robert Meglič, Matjaž Zupan and Matjaž Kladnik. When a short time later held Ski Flying World Championships in Planica 1994 Gostisa flew on the 34th place.

Since he had no success even for the next World Cup competition, he started back in 1994 in parallel in the world and Continental. This remained the case until the end of his career like that. In Continental, he was able to achieve his best result in the overall standings for the 1995/96 season with 19th place. In the same year he was also able to jump a few times in the top ten in the World Cup yet. In the Ski Flying World Championships 1996 in Kulm, he finished 25th.

In the seasons 1996/97 and 1997/ 98 more success came from, so that Gostisa after 9 years of professional ski jumping ski jumping 1998 his active career ended with the ski flying event on March 23 in his home Planica.
