Sampson Sievers

Sampson Sievers, born as Edward Graf von Sievers (* July 10, 1900 in Saint Petersburg, † August 24, 1979 in Moscow ) was a famous monk and priest of the Orthodox Church.

Life

He was the son of Count Alexander von Sievers Esper and the Englishwoman Mabel Annie Gare.

Sampson Sievers Sievers comes from the noble family and grew up in the high circles of the Russian Tsars society. He could speak fluent already in his youth, English, German, French and Greek. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, he was repeatedly arrested and imprisoned for years. He lived as a monk and priest for example in St Petersburg and Mordovia, where he gained great notoriety as the "Miracle Healer".
