Samuel Benjamin Sofer

Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer ( known by the name of his principal work as Ktaw Sofer, born March 13, 1815 in Bratislava, † December 31, 1871 ibid ) was a Hungarian Orthodox rabbi, a leading figure of Hungarian Jewry in the second half of the nineteenth century and Rosh yeshiva of Pressburg yeshiva. Among his pupils was Joseph Chaim Sonnenfeld.

After the death of his son Simcha Bunim Sofer Ktaw Sofer took over ( Shevet Sofer ) the Pressburger rabbinate and the leadership of the yeshiva. Another son, who was later murdered in Auschwitz Shimon Sofer, was a rabbi in Eger.

Shimon's grandson, Raw Yochanan Sofer, founded several synagogues in the U.S. and one in Israel, each under the name Kehillah Kedosha Ksav Sofer (Eng. "holy congregation KS ").
