Samuel Gross (politician)

Samuel Gross ( born November 10, 1776 in Upper Providence, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, † March 19, 1839 in Trappe, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1819 and 1823 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Samuel Gross attended the common schools and worked afterwards in agriculture. Later he hit as a member of the Democratic-Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1803 and 1807, he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania; 1811 to 1815 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1818 Gross was in the second electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Levi Pawling on March 4, 1819. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1823 two legislative sessions. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Samuel Gross withdrew from politics. He died on March 19, 1839 in Trappe.
