Samuel Paul Welles
Samuel Paul Welles ( born November 9, 1907 in Gloucester, Massachusetts, † August 6, 1997 in San Mateo, California ) was an American vertebrate paleontologist and research associate at the " Museum of Palaeontology " the University of California, Berkeley.
Welles participated in the 1930s in the excavations at the " Placerias Quarry ". Also on the discoveries of fossils of giant ichthyosaur Shonisaurus from 1954 and in subsequent years in the area of today's Berlin- Ichthyosaur State Park he was instrumental. He gained his first description of theropod dinosaur Dilophosaurus science from 1954 notoriety.
