San Roque, Cádiz

San Roque is a Spanish city in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia. It is near Gibraltar. The nearest towns are La Linea, Algeciras, the resort of Marbella, Malaga, Tarifa and Cádiz. San Roque is located near three airports and a shipping port, which are all within easy reach of San Roque and thus ensure good transport links to Europe and Africa.

History

San Roque was founded in 1706 by Spanish inhabitants of Gibraltar and King Felipe V. In 2006, San Roque celebrated the three hundredth anniversary.

Fair

Each year in the second week of August in San Roque, a fair held on the same square as the market. At the beginning of a fun fair parade takes place.

Market

Every Sunday except a week before fair beginning and during the fair, a market is held in San Roque, where you can buy food, clothes and other things. It is called by the inhabitants mercadillo.
