Sanaroa Island

Sanaroa, is a volcanic island in the Salomonensee. It is located in the center of the D' Entrecasteaux Islands, which belong to the district of Milne Bay Province Esa'Ala in Papua New Guinea. Sanaroa belongs to Dobu Rural LLG (Local Level Government) Area of the district Esa'Ala. Less than 5 miles to the west lies the island of Fergusson.

The island in the northern reaches a height of 212 meters.

At the 2000 census the island had 692 residents in two villages. The main town of the same name (also Etana ) with 418 inhabitants, is located in the south, and Siawawa with 274 inhabitants on the East Coast. The third village called Udaudana on the west coast was uninhabited. Approximately at the point of Udaudana is on the topographic map of 1962, the place Gurawaia recorded, the only place on the island.

In a constituency survey of 2012 other villages yet to be mentioned, namely Maiaru, Laua and Tewala. In the case of Tewala (also called Tewara ) is, however, a separate island 11 km north of Sanaroa that belongs only constituency moderate to Sanaroa.
