Sándor Páll

Sándor Páll ( Serbian spelling: Szandor Pal; * February 15, 1954 in Bačko Petrovo Selo, Vojvodina, Yugoslavia; † 7 July 2010) was a Serbian literary critic, translator, and politician of Hungarian mother tongue.

Life

He studied South Slavic literature at the University of Novi Sad, where he received his doctorate in 1988. Since 2004 he was a professor in the Department of Serbian Language at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. His main themes were the literary and cultural Yugoslav- Hungarian relations in the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the problems of translation.

He was chairman of Vajdasági Magyarok Demokratikus Közössége / Demokratska zajednica vojvođanskih Mađara (Democratic Union of Hungarians in Vojvodina ), a party which participated jointly with other parties as a party alliance Magyar coalition in elections.
