Sandy Howard

Sandy Howard ( born August 1, 1927 in the Bronx, † May 16, 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer.

Life

Sandy Howard began his career at a very young age on Broadway before he moved to Hollywood. In 1958 he developed a court show called Night Court USA, where he also self- directed. The following year, he produced the series Police Police Station. From 1964 he began to produce feature films, but in 1970 he was able to achieve great success with A man called Horse. Richard Harris, who also played in the two later sequels following the title role, was also starred in a summer echoes with the young Jodie Foster. Most of his productions realized Howard in the 1970s, until he had to cope behind the other two failures at the end of the decade. The Island of Dr. Moreau 1977 with Burt Lancaster and Michael York flopped and the star-studded with Sean Connery and Henry Fonda film Meteor played in 1979, not even half of production costs.

There followed in 1982 the third part of the man they called horse, but could not build on the success of the previous parts. As a result, Howard produced until the late 1980s, only some smaller film projects. Howard died in a hospital of complications from Alzheimer's disease at the age of 80 years.
