Sanel Jahić

Sanel Jahić ( born December 10, 1981 in Strasbourg) is a born in France Bosnian football player. Since February 2014 he has played in the Super League with the record champions Grasshoppers Zurich. He is a defender and can be used both as a defensive midfielder as well as a central defender playing. Although the 1.85 m tall players is mainly used at his club as a central defender, he has played as a full-back and even in different positions in midfield (especially as a defensive midfielder or right side).

Club career

Beginnings in France and Bosnia

Jahić began his career in the offspring of Racing Strasbourg and moved from there to FC Sochaux, where he signed his first professional contract in July 1999. There, the Bosnians rose in the first year on the French Ligue 1 but completed no game, which is why he moved to first division side FK Željezničar Bosnian Sarajevo in July 2001. There, the two-footed defender completed fifteen league games and two UEFA Cup games, winning the Super Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001, the Championship 2000 /2001 and 2001 /2002 and the Bosnian Cup 2003.

Career in Spain

In spring 2004, Sanel Jahić moved free transfer to the then Spanish second division side UD Las Palmas went. In the second division Jahić made ​​three goals in 25 games. His good performances at the club from Las Palmas aroused the interest of the league competition, and so Jahić changed in July 2005 for Mérida UD, where he completed ten matches and scored one goal.

Return to Sarajevo and the Greek League

In July 2006, Sanel returned to Željezničar Sarajevo, where he was often used as a striker. So Jahić scored ten goals mid-season 2007/ 08 and was Bosnian scorer before he went in the spring of 2008 for a transfer fee of € 20,000 to the then Greek first division club Aris Thessaloniki. For the season 2009/10 the Bosnian international signed a contract until 2013 and changed for 600,000 € to league rivals AEK Athens. APOEL Nicosia

Kardemir Karabükspor

National

In his time at FC Sochaux Jahić was an integral part of the Bosnian U-21 national team. In November 2007 he was nominated by the then national coach Fuad Muzurović for the last qualifying match against Turkey. He not played, but the nomination itself " was a great honor " and the fulfillment of his childhood dreams, so Jahić. He has become an integral part of the senior team. His first goal for Bosnia was the interim 2:1 ( Full 4-2 ) at qualifying for the 2010 World Cup on 28 March 2009 in the match against Belgium.
