Sankhuwasabha District

Sankhuwasabha is one of 75 districts in Nepal. It is situated in the Koshi Zone to the east of the country. At the 2001 census, it had 159,203 inhabitants; in 2011 there were 158 742.

The district is dominated by the deep valley of the Arun, one of the three major rivers of Nepal, the high hydropower potential is attributed.

Indigenous peoples of the district include the Yakkhas Lohorung, Kulung, Rai, Gurung and Limbu.
